Qualification & Education

Sally completed a BSc (Hons) with first class honours in Human Nutrition and Dietetics from the Technological University Dublin/Trinity College Dublin.

Experience

During Sally’s training, she gained experience across a range of HSE settings including large teaching hospitals and community centres. Since completing her studies, she has practiced as a private practice dietitian, conducting consultations with a range of patient types including; weight management, coeliac disease, type 2 diabetes, plant-based nutrition, gastroenterological issues and sports nutrition. She is passionate about educating clients about the implications of diet and to support them to flexibly and holistically implement this learning.

As a competitive athlete, Sally’s passion for nutrition expanded when she began to understand the impact of nutrition on sporting performance. Through her studies, she began to appreciate the broader implications of nutrition on health and disease.

Sally undertook a research project at the University of Hawai‘i at Mānoa where she investigated the impact of food security on infant diet quality. Her research was published under the journal Nutrients in July 2020.

Sally practiced as both a personal trainer and strength & conditioning coach during her undergraduate studies. This practice, coupled with her love of sport, running, reading and yoga, has taught her to view health as a holistic concept which incorporates mental, physical and nutritional wellness.
