Niamh Kelly, Dietitian

Qualification & Education

Niamh has a BSc in Biomedical Science and an MSc in Clinical Nutrition and Dietetics from UCD giving her the academic background to provide evidence-based guidance on nutritional issues related to disease prevention and management.

During Niamh’s training, she gained experience across a range of HSE settings including both the Paediatric hospital and community settings where she got experience in acute cardiac care, growth faltering, eating disorders, allergies, weaning, fussy eating, food aversions and coeliac disease.

Experience

Since graduating Niamh worked as a stroke and general dietitian in an acute hospital. The hospital setting has exposed her to a wide range of complex clinical conditions including renal disease, liver disease, diabetes, heart disease, neurodegenerative disorders such as dementia, Parkinson’s disease, respiratory disease, gastro surgery management and IBD.

Niamh is very interested in a number of speciality areas of nutrition including gut health and digestive disorders, weight management, allergies, fertility health and cancer. During her undergraduate degree Niamh also completed research in the area of colorectal cancer.  

Interests

In addition to her work as a dietitian in the clinical setting, Niamh is an avid runner having recently completed the Connemara marathon and a horse-riding enthusiast. She previously worked full time in horse racing where she competed as an amateur jockey. Her commitment to physical fitness and nutrition is evident in her own personal pursuits and her dedication to motivating others to achieve their health goals. Overall, Niamh's diverse interests and practical experience make her a well-rounded and accomplished individual with a passion for health and wellness.
