Qualification & Education

Lauren is a CORU registered Dietitian and member of INDI (Irish Nutrition and Dietetics Institute). She graduated from Trinity College Dublin and Dublin Institute of Technology in 2010, with an honors degree in human nutrition and dietetics.

Experience

Since graduating Lauren has gained experience working in clinical and research settings as well as the food industry. Most recently, she gained invaluable experience in the elearning arena, teaching nutrition online to thousands of students across the globe.

During college she developed a passion for preventative medicine, plant based nutrition, holistic healthcare and environmental sustainability. She has acquired a wealth of knowledge around these topics and is determined to bridge the gap between research and the public by educating people about nutrition. She is a big advocate of whole food plant based diets in the prevention and management of diet related chronic disease.

Lauren is very interested in a number of speciality areas of nutrition including gut health and digestive disorders, mental illness, weight management, allergies, skin disorders and cancer. She has received further training in the delivery of the FODMAPs diet for Irritable Bowl Syndrome (IBS). Working in the hospital setting has exposed her to a wide range of complex clinical conditions including chronic kidney disease, obesity, under nutrition, diabetes, heart disease, neurodegenerative disorders such as dementia, coeliac disease, infections and much more.

Through her studies and experience in the field she has witnessed the profound transformative power that nutrition can have for human health and enjoys working with individuals to help them achieve their goals. She encourages active collaboration with patients and emphasises the importance of empowering people to take control of their own health with education and behaviour change techniques.

She has a distinctly holistic approach to health, appreciating the importance of nourishing the mind, body and soul. As an aspiring yoga teacher, when she is not at work you will find her on her yoga mat, cultivating balance, strength and flexibility. In her spare time she loves reading, cooking and finding interesting ways of staying fit such as aerial acrobatics, rock climbing and spending time outdoors in nature.
