Qualification & Education

Born in the Netherlands, Didi moved to Ireland at age 8 and grew in up Co. Wicklow. She graduated with a First Class Honours Bsc. in Human Nutrition and Dietetics from Trinity College Dublin and the Dublin Institute of Technology. She is CORU registered (registration number DI012088) and a member of the Irish Nutrition and Dietetics Institute.

Didi has completed post-graduate training in the low FODMAP diet and weight management. She has also undertaken courses in Motivational Interviewing and Behaviour Change. Her interest in mindfulness led her to complete a course in Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction for Health Professionals with the Irish Mindfulness Institute. Didi is furthermore competent in the placement of several types of feeding tubes.

Experience

Didi currently works as a clinical dietitian in an acute hospital in Dublin. Since graduation, she has worked as a clinical dietitian in several acute and rehabilitation hospitals throughout Ireland. She also worked for some time in a long-term care facility. She has experience in a wide range of speciality areas, including age-related healthcare, surgery, heart health, weight management, neurology, stroke and kidney health.

She is passionate about helping people prevent disease with a good diet. She runs a blog where she shares articles on healthy eating, food-myths, gut health and more. She regularly presents at seminars and for patient groups on topics such as healthy eating, weight management and malnutrition.

Didi also has a keen interest in research. She has conducted research in the areas of childhood health promotion and nutritional care in stroke. Her research posters have been displayed at the Irish Nutrition and Dietetic Research symposium and several clinical study days. She sits on a nutrition committee for stroke at a national level.

When it comes to certain diets, Didi can speak from personal experience. She has conquered her own IBS (irritable bowel disease) by following the low FODMAP diet. She eats a vegetarian diet and is happy to share her experiences around this with her vegetarian clients. She is also a keen cyclist and an avid gym goer, ensuring to eat well to reach her sporting goals.
